Essential skills / Qualifications

-Technical SuperintendentAs a Technical Superintendent you are responsible for:
  • Involved in day to day operations and managing all types of technical operation of tanker vessels
  • Supervise and monitor technical/hull issues and provide technical support to the Vessel & Crew.
  • Preparation and supervision of execution drydocking repairs, or floating maintenance/surveys when required.
  • Monitor performances of machinery on-board and evaluate overall vessel technical conditions.
  • Manage the preparation, filing and dispatch of required reports and ensure vessel specifications and equipment details are accurately updated at all times.
  • Co-ordination all necessary vessel orders for stores, spares, repairs and survey within limits of authority to ensure that vessels remain stocked for safe and efficient operation.
  • Supervision of contractors' repair/maintenance of vessels.
  • Assist the Technical Manager in investigation of incidents and recognise the root cause, to make recommendations to prevent a recurrence. Assisting, if required, in any emergency matters.

The ideal candidate should meet the following requirements:
  • At least 2 years of previous experience as a Technical Superintendent working with tankers with a ship-management/ship-owning company
  • At least 3 years sailing experience in a senior position on tankers
  • Strong knowledge of industry rules and regulations
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • High sense of initiative, professionalism and responsibility
  • Excellent command of the written and spoken English language

-Marine SuperintendentAs a Marine Superintendent, you will be responsible for ensuring that vessels meet the standards and criteria required by Company, Customer, Class and Statutory regulations and to ensure that Company vessels are operated by personnel in a safe, efficient and economical manner and in full compliance with such requirements and regulations.
To be considered for the position you will hold STCW Reg. II/2 Master (Unlimited) Certificate of Competency, or equivalence with relevant additional vocational qualifications, however Chief Officer Unlimited Certificate of Competency will be considered.
Proven seagoing experience in Command (preferably as Master Mariner) is essential.
Ideally candidates will have experience in a similar position working with Tankers.
Excellent command of the written and spoken English language
Proactive with an excellent attitude. The successful candidate will be in charge and responsible for the following:
  • Vessel compliance with company SMS, new regulations and Class requirements
  • Vetting and oil major matters
  • Audits, PSC, USCG and Flag State matters
  • Maintaining Response Plans and TMSA
  • All security matters
  • Preparation of Fleet Safety Bulletins
  • Reporting incidents and subsequent investigations to oil major vetting departments.
  • Responsible for Navigation Standards
  • Planning ship visits as per company requirements (min 3 per vessel per annum)
  • Have a working knowledge of PMS
  • Responsible for ECDIS licensing and renewal
  • Responsible for issuing authorisation for implementation of changes. (Management of Change)
  • Responsible for gathering information for process of insurance claims
  • Responsible to SSHEQ Manager
  • Responsible for ensuring the SMS is up to date and that supporting procedures and instructions cover all activities that you have responsibility for.

Follow up on close-out of deficiencies from vetting Inspections.

To develop and maintain a close working relationship with the oil majors, including planned visits/ meetings as directed.
Assist the Senior Vetting Superintendent with the preparation of training material for vetting bulletins, vetting inspections.
